Wellness Wednesday - Follow Your Bliss
I was scrolling through Tik Tok the other day and came across this video of a woman. She was talking about how she absolutely knew in her heart that she was not supposed to be working the job she currently had, but she also did not know how to figure out what she should do instead. Seeing this brought me back to when I was at that point, about 2 years ago. At that time, I did some searching on the internet and found a cool way to find your bliss again. This can work for both finding a new career path or just simply bringing a bit of joy into your life again.
The exercise was to make a list of things you remember doing during your childhood that made you happy. I know this may be harder for others, lets face it we all had some THINGS happen in our childhood that traumatized us. This list may take a while. It could be even the smallest thing like a craft you enjoyed doing or when you played dress-up or used your imagination in any way. Anything that actually stayed in your memory. For me, there were a few things which have actually found their way into my businesses now, but I eventually landed on beading! I used to sit there and make beaded animal keychains and friendship bracelets of all kinds. Now, I own a beaded jewelry business (Lilies & Moonbeams)! Summer’s Cozy Corner, even, was brought to life because of the fact that all I watched growing up was the Food Network and HGTV. I wanted to start my own version of a lifestyle blog and now I have finally done it!
My experience is just an example. This does not have to lead to you quitting your job and starting a business, it is not for everyone. Instead, this could turn into a new hobby! Something you can do when you need to unwind and relax, bringing you pure bliss.
I say bliss because I had a teacher in Grade 12 who, after every class, told us to “follow your bliss!”. Those words have stuck with me ever since. She always wanted us to have happiness in our lives.
Give it a try! Follow your bliss!
