Wellness Wednesday - Journaling

Journaling is one of the best forms of release. There are many forms of it; like keeping a diary, writing a letter, even doing a video log (vlog) can be considered journaling.

I keep a few journals myself; one for when I need to release things that are bothering me that I can’t shake off, a tarot journal for my daily card pulls, and a gardening journal for when I do start my garden. I tried bullet journaling, but I would always forget to update all of those trackers and then I would feel bad and try to remember how I felt that day and well, I got overwhelmed. I don’t write every day, only when I need to. I like the more relaxed approach, no pressure. Out of all of those journals the one that helped the most was my release journal.

When I would get really overwhelmed or just couldn’t shake negative thoughts or emotions I would sit on my bed, hold onto my mala beads, and just start writing. I would keep writing until I felt I was calm. When I first started, I was doing it probably every other day…I was dealing with a lot. Now, I don’t need to do it so much anymore and it’s a wonderful feeling.

Journaling can be about anything you need. Talking about the good things in your life, the bad, even just for organizing your thoughts. If you feel you need to unload because your brain is too full, I absolutely suggest giving journaling a try. You don’t have to be a writer to do it. Just speak your mind. Whether you handwrite, type, dictate on your phone, or record a video just give it a try.
